Moving!!!

Good news--am moving, bad new-- I have to pack. So I have no time to post anything, but not to worry I will be back next week. Before I go let me leave you with expert advice on what to know before moving in together. According to them the key is communication, and I will add to that understanding, because when he/she is explaining to you how much that ugly lamp means to him/her, am sure you can hear him/her but the hardest part is to accept it.

Ceremony reading

I always thought people who wrote their own wedding vows were really courageous for the following reasons.
1. I wouldn't know what to write
2. I really like the traditional vows and the idea of millions of people saying it before me (Even if 50% of them break it, i still like to think they really meant what was said ).
So keeping in line with spoken word my subject for today is ceremony reading. If you have a friend who writes poetry (or maybe yourself) you can ask them to write a poem to be read at your ceremony or you can go here and get some ideas on readings. Of course you should choose something beautiful and meaningful to both of you, it can even be something to remember someone that passed away and couldn't be there. Here are a few that I liked.

COLOSSIANS 3:12-14

Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassion, kindness, lowliness, meekness, and patience, forbearing one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.

MY TRUE LOVE

Sir Phillip Sydney

My true love hath my heart and I have his,
By just exchange one for another given
I hold his dear, and mine he cannot miss,
There never was a better bargain driven
My true love hath my heart and I have his.

His heart in me keeps him and me in one,
My heart in him his thoughts and senses guides
He loves my heart, for once it was his own,
I cherish his because in me it bides
My true love hath my heart and I have his.

ECCLESIASTES 4:9-12

Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up. Again, if two lie together, they are warm; but how can one be warm alone? And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him.

HOW DO I LOVE THEE

By Elizabeth Barrett Browning

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of Being and ideal Grace.
I love thee to the level of every day's
Most quiet need, by sun and candlelight.
I love thee freely, as men strive for Right;
I love thee purely, as they turn from Praise.
I love with a passion put to use
In my old griefs, and with my childhood's faith.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost saints, -- I love thee with the breath,
Smiles, tears, of all my life! -- and, if God choose,
I shall but love thee better after death.

Just Because

While researching posts for this blog I always see items that I find interesting but that might not fit into a "post", so am starting this new section that am calling Just Because. So here is a dress that I stumbled upon by Sposa by St Pucchi and quite frankly I wouldn't wear this dress but i find the details fascinating.

Centerpieces

Hope everyone had a great weekend, to help you guys get over your "case of the Monday" here are some centerpieces for your enjoyment.

I love this arrangement but I find the vase a little to plasticky for my taste so am adding some vases that I think would be a great substitute.
This one is just $2.49 at Ikea

And this one $9.99 again at Ikea

Star Wedding Style

So our next SWS (Star Wedding Style) is Ana Ortiz, you probably know her as Betty's funny and sassy sister in Ugly Betty. I am sure, I am not the only one who love the show and can't wait for a new season.
Ana married Noah Lebenzon the lead guitarist of Everything is Energy on June 9th 2007 during a ceremony she herself called a "mixture between Hollywood and Puerto Rico"

The couple ceremony took place in an ocean view dining room of the Horned Dorset Primavera Hotel in Rincon, Puerto Rico.

Ana wore a Monique L'Huillier lace gown with an open back

Their ceremony and reception decor had a "nature" look and blended well with the Caribbean island.

Calla lilies, hydrangeas, lily grass and philodendron leaves.

Vendela roses

The three-tier Tahitian-vanilla cake was decorated with hydrangeas, cymbidium orchids, and peonies.

Do you want to steal Ana and Noah wedding style?

They chose their wedding to be a destination wedding but you don't need to travel to have something similar. First your wedding color should be white and green with a little bit of color where it is unexpected like your centerpiece or your bridesmaids dresses.

Think tropical, seaside, nature but still glamorously chic

For your dress choose beaded lace trumpet with a plunging V neckline and a sash.

Monique l'Huillier

Sposa by St Pucchi

For the budget minded bride choose this David's Bridal gown for $749-$799

Jada & her Dress

When I came across this picture of Will and Jada my 1st thought was boy this man is fine.

My 2nd thought was that her gorgeous dress would be great as a wedding dress in white or ivory of course.

So I went looking for identical dresses but couldn't find anything that was exactly the same. But here are some dresses that i felt came close to the look:

Venus

San Patrick

Adele Weshler

Val Stefani

If you want Jada exact look then follow these guidelines-- your dress silhouette should be trumpet or mermaid, your neckline-- vneck or scoop, choose a natural look for your waist and finally your train style should be cathedral or chapel.
Like Jada to complement your whole look, have a well dressed and handsome man by your side.

27 Bridesmaids Dresses: The Ok

So the 2nd installment of my coverage on 27 bridesmaids dresses: The Good the Ok and the Ugly is about the Ok. Actually I find theses dresses pretty nice and i wouldn't mind wearing one of them if I was ever chosen to be a bridesmaid. But If you remember the 1st post, my coverage is on bridesmaids dresses you could wear again without any alterations. I don't know about you but galas and formal parties where these type of attires would be required are not part of my every day life.

Enough talking enjoy

Veils

Do you remember Princess Diana's wedding pictures? till this day I still think her wedding dress is one of the ugliest I have ever seen. Her veil is another story though, it was grandiose, beautiful, magnificent, one of a kind just like the lady herself. When I was a kid, I use to want a veil just like hers, now a little bit older and wiser i would probably opt for something less dramatic.

Nowadays we have so many choices and so many style to choose from that it can be overpowering. So hopefully this post will give you a better understanding of veils and your different options.

Blusher: A single layer veil wore over the face during the ceremony. This style of veil can be combined with other layers of veil.

Elbow: Best worn with dresses without trails or a gown with a full skirt.

Fingertip: This is the most common choice for brides and it goes well with the majority of dresses but if you choose this style, your dress should not have a trail.

Waltz: This would be your option if you are set on wearing a long veil but your dress does not have a trail.

Chapel: It is better suited for formal weddings and it falls 2 1/2 yards from the headpiece.

Cathedral: This veil is one yard longer than the chapel veil. Because this is a very dramatic veil make sure your wedding dress can carry this look.

And my personal favorite the Mantilla, its Spanish inspired and can be wore in any length it doesn't even require a headpiece to keep it in place.

If your dress is ornate, I would say keep the veil plain and simple but if the dress is simple you can go either way. Just remember that the veil like every other accessories are made to complement and enhance your dress, they should not overpower it.

The Flirty Bride has a more detail explanation on veils and the different options you have.
