Aisle Decoration

Hello everyone,

I stumbled upon some aisle decoration pictures and I just had to share with you guys

This one is my favorite, they are large, pots painted in gold filled with bunches of faux grass, and tied off by a gold silk ribbon.

27 Dresses: The Ugly

So for the last installment of my feature on 27 bridesmaid dresses, I'm covering ugly dresses. Seriously anyone who lets you out of the house dress in one of these does not deserve to be your friend. Besides lets face it if the bride picked this for you its probably because she hates you and is trying to torture you .

Seriously??

Yes they look like they are from the 90's unfortunately they're still selling them today

I am not linking the dresses, I wouldn't want to be the cause of humiliation of some poor girl.

Poll Results: Elegant & Classic

The results are in and you guys wedding style is elegant and classic but at the same time fun. So here are a few ideas on how to pull it off.
First of all classic doesn't mean boring and elegant doesn't necessarily mean expensive.
As a rule of thumb I would suggest keeping things simple, spacey and clean, in other words don't over do it.

The ceremony:

The reception

I absolutely love this chair, I think it's simple, elegant and classic, exactly what this post is about. Also remember when I was talking about using African fabrics for the sashes at the back of your chairs? Well here you can substitute the fabric at the top with some African cloth (or Asian, South American, whatever you want). If you are good with needles (or know someone who is) you can do it yourself, it would save you the money for the chair covers.

The next poll is about the groom, so am curious ladies will you let your groom choose his own attire or will you dictate what he should wear? Please take some time to answer that question.

What do you guys think about these wedding cakes?

I wouldn't mind as an engagement cake or for a bridal shower but for the actual day, I am not too sure. Would you?

This, I like. The cake featured lyrics to the couple's wedding song -- Etta James' "At Last."

African details

Looking to add some African details to your wedding without over doing it, look no further.
I would use the bracelets as napkins rings.

Another idea is to put your bridesmaid into some African inspired dresses

Rifat Ozbek
Hope you all realize that having an African theme doesn't necessarily means having a safari theme. I can not repeat it enough Africa is much more than wild animals and a bushy land. Take inspiration from African cloths for patterns and colors. The sashes at the back of your chair can even be made out of African cloth but remember to keep the tablecloths and chair covers a neutral color.

Rock the reception

Am back!!!

So one of the 1st thing I set up after moving in was my cable (I cannot live without TV) and am glad I did because I was able to catch one of my favorite show Say yes to the dress on TLC but I will talk about this show another time. This post is about the show I caught afterwards called Rock the reception.
According to the TLC website "Rock the Reception follows engaged couples as they plan and carry out an elaborate first wedding dance. World-class choreographers will work with bride, groom and bridal party to create an outrageous first dance that will knock the socks off their wedding guests.
The first dances will be choreographed to songs that range from the likes of "Thriller" to "Baby Got Back." With the couples having only a limited amount of time to learn an elaborate dance while also preparing for their wedding, tensions are sure to run high. No matter the outcome, the wedding guests are sure to see a first dance they'll never forget."

The show was hilarious, watching people's reaction to the bride and groom dancing on Footloose was priceless, here are two videos from the show:

Adria & Alvin

Marti & Todd

Here is one that wasn't part of the show but was hilarious:

I even found some father daughter dance

(Skip to the 1 min mark)

This is a really nice and fun alternative to the traditional first dance but if you want both, why not do the traditional dance and immediately follow it with a fun choreography? Of course, you can also can save the choreographed dance for a little bit later.

Catch the show on TLC Fridays at 10:30/9:30c

What not to do

What not to do when attending a wedding. In case you didn't know this article will help you out.
In all fairness I didn't know either that you shouldn't bring gifts. Apparently you are suppose to send them before or after the wedding so that the couple doesn't have to worry about them.

Am loving the pink shoes and the contrast to the pure white. I think its a great way to incorporate your color theme to your wedding attire, it can definitely be an alternative to color sashes.

The Head Table

Traditionally at the head table you will find the bride and groom, the bridal party and the couple parents.

But now more and more couple are moving away from what some people call the "last supper" table. Here are a few other options that you might want to consider

Option 1: The sweetheart table

Option 2: The sweetheart table part 2

With this option you can have your bridal party around you, but I would personally tone it down on the drapery in the back, and ask them to change the carpet (that might be a bit too much to ask for, but still).

Option 3: the Head table revisited

Here again you can have everyone around you but it gives a more modern feel to your reception.
