Nowadays we have so many choices and so many style to choose from that it can be overpowering. So hopefully this post will give you a better understanding of veils and your different options.
Blusher: A single layer veil wore over the face during the ceremony. This style of veil can be combined with other layers of veil.
Elbow: Best worn with dresses without trails or a gown with a full skirt.
Fingertip: This is the most common choice for brides and it goes well with the majority of dresses but if you choose this style, your dress should not have a trail.
Waltz: This would be your option if you are set on wearing a long veil but your dress does not have a trail.
Chapel: It is better suited for formal weddings and it falls 2 1/2 yards from the headpiece.
Cathedral: This veil is one yard longer than the chapel veil. Because this is a very dramatic veil make sure your wedding dress can carry this look.
And my personal favorite the Mantilla, its Spanish inspired and can be wore in any length it doesn't even require a headpiece to keep it in place.
If your dress is ornate, I would say keep the veil plain and simple but if the dress is simple you can go either way. Just remember that the veil like every other accessories are made to complement and enhance your dress, they should not overpower it.
