Star Wedding Style

On august 23rd 2008, actress Malinda Williams married former rapper and present celebrity deejay Derrick “D-Nice” Jones.

The wedding took place at the mezzanine in Newark, NJ ( A venue that can host up to 900 guests at a time).

The bride and groom went for a vintage inspired wedding, very classic and elegant

The bride looked flawless as she shows how to rock short hair on your big day.

Her ivory, beaded, ruffled-tiered gown was designed by Maggie Sotter.

Her bridesmaid were wearing champagne floor length gown with chocolate sashes at the waist by David's Bridal.

As an alternate to the usual tie, the groosmen were wearing champagne bow ties .

The ceremony decoration consisted of tall branches in vase filled rock, and tall white pillar candles also in vases.

And as always my favorite part..... the cake

Absolutely gorgeous

Do you like the Jones' wedding style? Here are some simple step to follow to achieve their wedding day style.
Start by choosing a tiered dress that has a trumpet/mermaid silhouette and a strapless neckline, finish it off by adding beading to embelish the dress.

For the ceremony deco, use natural branches

Manzanita branches

Natural Willow Sticks

Very Curly Willow

and with winter coming you can even iced the branches to get a more winterish look

Also use candles at each or every other chair/pew

To achieved this SWS think retro, simple and romantic

White

As you may have noticed, I have been hibernating for a while now, winter does that to me, but thankfully spring is almost here and to top it all of, I have been planning a friend's wedding. I will let you guys know a bit more about it later and what I am learning from it. One thing is for sure though, planning a wedding is stressful on the couple but with the right attitude you can get through it. Luckily, I am working with the best bride and groom a planner can ever ask for.

To start with a clean slate, I decided to do a post on the color white. Basic but beautiful!

At the ceremony

At the reception

I love the simple elegance and timelessness the color brings to centerpieces

The good thing about that color is that it can pretty much be paired with any other color as well as be used for any seasons

Another added bonus is that white linens are usually provided free of charge by the reception venue or the caterer.

Ring Pillow Revisited

Instead of having the ring bearer carry your rings on a pillow try one of these alternatives:

Seashells

Miniature green mums

Luhala leaves

Bird's nest

Aisle Decoration

Hello everyone,

I stumbled upon some aisle decoration pictures and I just had to share with you guys

This one is my favorite, they are large, pots painted in gold filled with bunches of faux grass, and tied off by a gold silk ribbon.

Poll Results: Elegant & Classic

The results are in and you guys wedding style is elegant and classic but at the same time fun. So here are a few ideas on how to pull it off.
First of all classic doesn't mean boring and elegant doesn't necessarily mean expensive.
As a rule of thumb I would suggest keeping things simple, spacey and clean, in other words don't over do it.

The ceremony:

The reception

I absolutely love this chair, I think it's simple, elegant and classic, exactly what this post is about. Also remember when I was talking about using African fabrics for the sashes at the back of your chairs? Well here you can substitute the fabric at the top with some African cloth (or Asian, South American, whatever you want). If you are good with needles (or know someone who is) you can do it yourself, it would save you the money for the chair covers.

The next poll is about the groom, so am curious ladies will you let your groom choose his own attire or will you dictate what he should wear? Please take some time to answer that question.

Happy Planning!!!
