White

As you may have noticed, I have been hibernating for a while now, winter does that to me, but thankfully spring is almost here and to top it all of, I have been planning a friend's wedding. I will let you guys know a bit more about it later and what I am learning from it. One thing is for sure though, planning a wedding is stressful on the couple but with the right attitude you can get through it. Luckily, I am working with the best bride and groom a planner can ever ask for.

To start with a clean slate, I decided to do a post on the color white. Basic but beautiful!

At the ceremony

At the reception

I love the simple elegance and timelessness the color brings to centerpieces

The good thing about that color is that it can pretty much be paired with any other color as well as be used for any seasons

Another added bonus is that white linens are usually provided free of charge by the reception venue or the caterer.

Poll Results: Elegant & Classic

The results are in and you guys wedding style is elegant and classic but at the same time fun. So here are a few ideas on how to pull it off.
First of all classic doesn't mean boring and elegant doesn't necessarily mean expensive.
As a rule of thumb I would suggest keeping things simple, spacey and clean, in other words don't over do it.

The ceremony:

The reception

I absolutely love this chair, I think it's simple, elegant and classic, exactly what this post is about. Also remember when I was talking about using African fabrics for the sashes at the back of your chairs? Well here you can substitute the fabric at the top with some African cloth (or Asian, South American, whatever you want). If you are good with needles (or know someone who is) you can do it yourself, it would save you the money for the chair covers.

The next poll is about the groom, so am curious ladies will you let your groom choose his own attire or will you dictate what he should wear? Please take some time to answer that question.

Happy Planning!!!

Centerpieces

Hope everyone had a great weekend, to help you guys get over your "case of the Monday" here are some centerpieces for your enjoyment.

I love this arrangement but I find the vase a little to plasticky for my taste so am adding some vases that I think would be a great substitute.
This one is just $2.49 at Ikea

And this one $9.99 again at Ikea

Happy Planning!!!

Star Wedding Style

So our next SWS (Star Wedding Style) is Ana Ortiz, you probably know her as Betty's funny and sassy sister in Ugly Betty. I am sure, I am not the only one who love the show and can't wait for a new season.
Ana married Noah Lebenzon the lead guitarist of Everything is Energy on June 9th 2007 during a ceremony she herself called a "mixture between Hollywood and Puerto Rico"

The couple ceremony took place in an ocean view dining room of the Horned Dorset Primavera Hotel in Rincon, Puerto Rico.

Ana wore a Monique L'Huillier lace gown with an open back

Their ceremony and reception decor had a "nature" look and blended well with the Caribbean island.

Calla lilies, hydrangeas, lily grass and philodendron leaves.

Vendela roses

The three-tier Tahitian-vanilla cake was decorated with hydrangeas, cymbidium orchids, and peonies.

Do you want to steal Ana and Noah wedding style?

They chose their wedding to be a destination wedding but you don't need to travel to have something similar. First your wedding color should be white and green with a little bit of color where it is unexpected like your centerpiece or your bridesmaids dresses.

Think tropical, seaside, nature but still glamorously chic

For your dress choose beaded lace trumpet with a plunging V neckline and a sash.

Monique l'Huillier

Sposa by St Pucchi

For the budget minded bride choose this David's Bridal gown for $749-$799

Happy Planning!!!
